Using bullion stitches as petals – why not? This bullion stitch flower is a nice one to spread in between other flowers. Adapt it to your taste by adding more or fewer petals than shown in the picture or playing with stitch lengths and color. This flower embroidery might look plain and simple, but you can actually switch up things quite a bit to get some variation into it!

One of my all time favorite craft books is The Constance Howard Book of Stitches. I find it a never ending inspiration. All of the pictures in the book are in black and white but they show the most creative embroidery stitches and opened me up to the idea of two (or more) color embroidery, which is something I’d never really thought of before. I made this tutorial to go along with my Sampler Pillows Project Journal, which you can see in the photo above.

Time to end the week with a book review! I’ve been wanting to review Stumpwork Embroidery: Techniques & Projects by Helen Richman of Blue Bird Embroidery for a while now, but, after waiting for my order from the UK (it’s available in the States now), I still had to make my way through the book.
